The Staff Selection Commission conducted Tier-I of the Combined Higher Secondary
(10+2) Level Examination (CHSLE), 2024 from 01.07.2024 to 11.07.2024 in the Computer
Based Mode.
2. As per the Para-13.2 of the Notice of examination, normalized scores have been used
to fix cut-off marks in the examination.
3. As per the Para 17.1 of the Notice of the examination, minimum qualifying marks in
Tier-I of the Examination are as follows:
(i) UR : 30%
(ii) OBC/ EWS : 25%
(iii) All other categories : 20%
4. As per Para-17.3 of the Notice of examination, separate category-wise cut-offs have
been fixed in Tier-I for different posts i.e. DEO/ DEO Grade ‘A’ and LDC/ JSA.

Result of Tier-I of Combined Higher Secondary (10+2) Level Examination, 2023 was declared by the Commission on 27.09.2023 wherein 17495 candidates were shortlisted in List-I for LDC/JSA, 754 candidates in List-II for DEO (CAG & DCA) and 1307 candidates in List-III for the post of DEO (other than CAG & DCA). Subsequently, Additional result of Tier-I was declared on 12.12.2023, wherein 145 candidates [List I – LDC/JSA – 140 candidates; List II – DEO (CAG & DCA)
1. Candidate and List III- DEO (other than CAG & DCA)- 04 candidates] were shortlisted for appearing in Tier-II.
2. Tier-II examination was conducted on 02.11.2023 and 10.01.2024. Accordingly, 14,548 candidates shortlisted for the post of LDC /JSA /JPA appeared in Typing Test of Tier-II and 1679 candidates shortlisted for the post of DEOs appeared in DEST.
3. As per Para 17.7 of the Notice of Examination, Section-III, Module-I i.e. Computer Knowledge Test (CKT) and Module-II i.e. Data Entry Speed Test (DEST)/ Typing Test are of qualifying nature.
4. As per Para 17.8 and 17.9 of the Notice of the Examination, Option-cum-preference has been taken online from the candidates who appeared in Tier-II of CHSLE 2023 from 13.02.2024 to 18.02.2024. 11,467 candidates who have submitted their preferences online have been considered for further selection process.
5. As per Para 17.1 of the Notice of the Examination, minimum qualifying marks in Section-I, Section-II & Module-I of Section-III of Tier-II Examination are as follows: – i. UR : 30% ii. OBC/ EWS : 25% iii. All other categories : 20%

(a) Matriculation level
General Intelligence: It would include questions of non-verbal type. The test will include questions on similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions.
General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the general awareness of the environment and its application to the society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.
Quantitative Aptitude: This paper will include questions on problems relating to Number Systems, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions and relationship between Numbers, Fundamental arithmetical operations, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, use of Tables and Graphs, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Ratio and Time, Time and Work, etc.
English Language: Candidates’ understanding of the Basics of English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/ her writing ability would be tested.
(b) 10+2 (Higher Secondary) level
General Intelligence: It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on Semantic Analogy, Symbolic operations, Symbolic/ Number Analogy, Trends, Figural Analogy, Space Orientation ,Semantic Classification, Venn Diagrams, Symbolic/ Number Classification, Drawing inferences, Figural Classification ,Punched hole/ pattern-folding & unfolding , Semantic Series, Figural Pattern – folding and completion, Number Series, Embedded figures, Figural Series, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Emotional Intelligence, Word Building, Social Intelligence, Coding and de-coding, Other sub-topics, if any Numerical operations.
General Awareness: Questions will be designed to test the general awareness of the environment and its application to the society. Questions are also designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspect as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General polity and scientific research.

Mensuration: Triangle, Quadrilaterals, Regular Polygons, Circle, Right Prism, Right Circular Cone, Right Circular Cylinder, Sphere, Hemispheres, Rectangular Parallelepiped, Regular Right Pyramid with triangular or square Base Trigonometry: Trigonometry, Trigonometric ratios, Complementary angles, Height and distances (simple problems only) Standard Identities etc., Statistical Charts: Use of Tables and Graphs, Histogram, Frequency polygon, Bar- diagram, Pie-chart

Q. Whether Result for an examination has been declared or when will it be declared ?

Q. What to do when Admission Certificate for examination is not received?
A. If the candidates do not receive the admission certificates in time, they have the option to ascertain their Roll Numbers and download the duplicate admission certificate from this website, for which a link is provided usually 10-15 days before the date of the examination. In some exceptional cases, duplicate admission certificates are delivered to the candidates by hand from the office of SSC(ER) on some specified dates before the examination, for which ‘Notice’ is posted on this website.
Q. What is the system for allotting centres and sub-centres for examinations?
A. The candidates are normally allotted the centre of examination opted by them while the sub-centre (venue) is allotted according to the Ticket no. of the candidate. Sometimes when the number of candidates applying from a centre is too large, the excess candidates (except female and physically handicapped candidates) are shifted to nearby centres.
Q. What to do when dates of Interviews/PET clash with another examination or interviews?
A. No change is Ordinarily permissible. However, if the interviews/ PET are being held at the specified venue on other dates also, the request may be considered if made at least ten days in advance with supporting documents.
Q. What to do when the category shown in the result is incorrect?
A. Such candidates are requested to inform the SSC immediately for re-determining their 1 of 4results in the actual category.
Q. How long does it take for the SSC to nominate candidates after declaration of the final results of an Examination?
A. It generally takes about 30-40 days to process the dossiers of successful candidates. Thereafter, the candidates are nominated to the respective Departments/ Ministries, to which they have been alloted. The Concerned Department/ Ministry issues the offer of appointment to the candidates.
Q. What are the posts for which the SSC conducts examinations and what are the required qualifications?
A. (i) The SSC conducts open examinations regularly for posts for which a large number of vacancies exist, some of these are: Combined Graduate level [Assistant Grade, Auditors/Jr.Accountants/Upper Division Clerks, Divisional Accountants, Inspectors of Income Tax/Central Excise, and CBI, Section Officer (Commercial) and Section Officer (Audit), Tax Assistant in Income Tax/Central Excise], Combined Higher Secondary level [, Lower Division Clerks], CPO (Central Police Organisations) examination for recruitment of Sub-Inspectors in CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Stenographer Grade ‘C’, Stenographer Grade ‘D’ Examination, Junior Engineers (Civil & Mechanical) Examination, Multi Tasking Staff Examination etc. (ii) Direct Interviews/Skill Tests are held for isolated specialized posts, called Selection Posts, after inviting applications through advertisements, as and when such vacancies are reported to the Commission by various govt. departments/ministries/offices.
